Risk Factors of Endometrial Cancer (Uterus Cancer)

Post menopausal hormonal replacement therapy

Estero gen alone increases the risk whereas if it is combined with progesterone then there is hardly any risk so it should ideally be taken in combined firm.

Obesity

Fat in the body is the source of excess of esterogen especially in post menopausal females. This excess estero gen increases the risk of endometrial cancer.

High fat diet especially animal fat.

This increase fat in the body which increase the risk of endometrial cancer.

Sedentary habits

Lack of physical activity increases the obesity which promotes endometrial cancer.

Nulliparity or infertility

Pregnancy decreases the continued exposure to high level of esterogen which in turn reduces the risk of endometrial cancer so lack of pregnancy increases the risk of endometrial cancer

Age

Old the age more is the risk

Early menarche and late menopause leads to excess exposure to esterogen in the life of female thereby increasing the risk.

Tamoxifen therapy for breast cancer

It acts like estrogen for endometrium so it increases the risk especially in post menopausal females so regular monitoring is essential when on tamoxifen therapy.

Estrogen secreting tumours

Like granulosa cell tumours

Other risk factors

Smoking

Genetic like LYNCH SYNDROME

Exposure to pelvic radiation

PCOS Polycystic ovarian syndrome
